Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
CLOVIS — Residents of Clovis, Portales and both Curry and Roosevelt counties are invited to share ideas regarding each entity’s Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP) during public meetings the next two weeks.
The ICIP, in each case, is an annually-revised document to show major projects over the upcoming five years. Projects must fall under the responsibility of local government and not be related to private business.
Curry County Manager Lance Pyle said the county uses the top five projects on the ICIP when it submits capital outlay requests to the state Legislature in January.
Curry’s public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the commisison chambers at the county’s administrative complex and Pyle said the county plans to provide a recommended list of projects to the Curry County Commission at its Aug. 21 meeting.
Pyle said past projects proposed by residents include improvements to the county roads, courthouse and fairgrounds.
The city of Clovis is holding its meeting 3 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Ingram Room of the Clovis-Carver Public Library. Assistant City Manager Clair Burroughes said public input will be presented to the Clovis city commission at its Aug. 16 meeting.
An ICIP workshop is scheduled to follow Tuesday’s Roosevelt County Commission meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. in the commisison room at the Roosevelt County Courthouse.
The city of Portales will hold also hold its ICIP meeting on Tuesday, which will take place at 5:15 p.m. in the Public Works office at City Hall. The plan will then be discussed at the Portales City Council meeting beginning later that night before going to the council for approval at its Aug. 21 meeting.
