Burn ban action tops Roosevelt agenda

PORTALES — Action on the burn ban previously approved in June tops a light agenda at today’s Roosevelt County Commission meeting.

The resolution approved at the commission’s June 26 meeting prohibits outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the county and establishes a minimum fine of $100.

The resolution requires re-approval every 45 days and County Manager Amber Hamilton said today the commission will consider extending, lifting or partially imposing the burn ban.

The meeting will be followed by an executive session to discuss land acquisition, litigation and possible personnel matters, according to the agenda.

Today’s meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. in the county commission room at the Roosevelt County Courthouse, will also be followed by a workshop to discuss the county’s Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP).
