Children’s home earns 4-star rating

PORTALES — New Mexico Christian Children’s Home has earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator for the first time, according to a news release from Charity Navigator.

“It’s important our donors trust that we’re using their donations wisely to accomplish our mission of transforming the children we serve into Christian champions,” children’s home Executive Director R. C. Self said. “Our four-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters our good governance and financial accountability.”

The organization has analyzed charitable organizations since 2002, and judges on 17 different metrics focused on ethical practices and transparency, according to the news release.

Charity Navigator evaluates around 8,000 charitable organizations, with about a quarter receiving a four-star designation.
