Community invited to National Night Out

CLOVIS — Area residents are invited to mingle with first responders and enjoy some displays and music tonight at Clovis’ iteration of National Night Out, from 5 p.m till dusk at Greene Acres Park.

Clovis Police Chief Doug Ford said it’s “always a great time and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy meeting with their local first responders.”

NNO is typically held the first Tuesday of August, according to the community management company Associa, which said in a news release the campaign was marking its 35th year.

“Neighborhoods will band together to show support for one another and take a symbolic stand against crime in their communities,” said the release. “NNO ... promotes community safety, neighborhood camaraderie, and crime prevention.”

Texas celebrates NNO on the first Tuesday in October, it added.

Clovis Fire Chief Mike Nolen said CFD will also be represented tonight at the event.

Ford estimated the proceedings to wrap up around 8 p.m.
