1968: Hundreds of people turned out for the 12th annual Old Timers Day at Melrose.
Festivities included a parade, barbecue, "several contests and various displays," the Clovis News-Journal reported.
The celebration concluded with a rodeo.
This year's Old Timers Day begins at 6 p.m. today with a fundraising brisket dinner at the P.E. Complex in Melrose. A music festival follows and then a parade and other events are set for Saturday.
