1958: Vandals were making headlines around Curry County.
City of Clovis officials said they were closing Potter Pool a week earlier than planned unless vandals came forward and confessed their recent overnight actions.
Garbage cans had been emptied into the pool along with broken pop bottles. Someone had also flooded the bath house.
Police were investigating.
Southern Union Gas Co. was also reporting problems with vandals. Officials said five gas meters had recently been destroyed and sheriff's deputies were on the lookout for "people firing guns from cars," the Clovis News-Journal reported.
