RICHARDSON, Texas — Eastern New Mexico’s women’s soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Lone Star Conference, according to the preseason poll released Wednesday from the conference office.
West Texas A&M, last season’s tournament champion, led the seven LSC member schools with 109 points and 10 first-place votes. The Lady Buffs were followed by Texas A&M-Commerce (two first-place votes) and regular season champ Angelo State (five).
Midwestern State was fourth, followed by Texas Woman’s, Eastern New Mexico and Texas Permian Basin — which picked up the final first-place vote.
The LSC soccer slate starts next week, with a 12-game LSC schedule comprised of a home game and road game against every other member school.
The top six teams will qualify for the postseason tournament. The No. 1 seed will be tournament host, and the top two seeds receive first-round byes.
The Greyhounds begin their season with a 7 p.m. Aug. 30 home match against St. Mary’s.
