ENMU's Gannon honored

Texico grad is all-tournament for Buff Classic

Eastern New Mexico volleyball player Jasmine Gannon was recently named to the 2018 BritKare Lady Buff Classic All-Tournament team for her performance in the Greyhound's four matches over the weekend in Canyon, Texas.

Gannon received All-Tournament honors after leading all four tournament teams with 65 kills over the four matches and averaged 3.61 kills per set, which ranks her third in the Lone Star Conference after the first weekend of action. The Clovis native recorded 10 or more kills in all four matches over the weekend, including a 21-kill performance in the opening match against Emporia State.

She posted an attack percentage of .254 and led the tournament in total kills and kills per set. Along with her contributions on offense, Gannon record a double-double with 14 digs and 15 kills in the second match against Adams State.

Gannon is a 2017 graduate of Texico High School, and starred at volleyball and basketball for the Lady Wolverines. In fact, she has the distinction of being named Most Valuable Player in state championship games for both Texico sports.

She is currently studying Mathematics and Secondary Education at ENMU.

Gannon and the Hounds will travel to the Texas state capital in Austin for their next tournament this Thursday, with matches set for Friday at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., and then on Saturday at 9 a.m.
