1958: New Mexico's state employment service was seeking "100 Navajos" to help with farm labor in Tucumcari.

"The work is in connection with broomcorn harvesting and pays 75 cents an hour plus housing and transportation," United Press International reported.

Workers were required to provide their own bedrolls and cooking utensils, the news report said.
