PORTALES — Two years after his arrest for selling drugs to undercover agents, a Portales man was convicted Friday of two second-degree felonies and faces 18 years in prison, according to a news release from District Attorney Andrea Reeb.
A Roosevelt County jury found Armando Pena, 40, guilty of two counts of trafficking methamphetamine, returning a “quick verdict” after “many long delays” in the case, said the release.
Pena was one of nine arrested through “a sting operation targeting the sale of drugs and thefts,” it continued, and he awaits trial on other felony drug charges.
Judge Donna Mowrer presided over the trial, with Pena represented by Assistant Public Defender Donald Pieper and the state by Deputy DA Jake Boazman.
