1973: Gen. William W. Momyer, commander of the Tactical Air Command, announced Cannon Air Force Base had been selected for the Best Appearance Award for 1973.

"It was not an easy task to accomplish the improvements needed on Cannon so that we could win this award," said Col. G. P. Bartholomew, commander of the 27th Combat Support Group.

"I want to extend to each and every person at Cannon my sincere thanks for a job well done."
