Roosevelt supports counties' legislative priorities

PORTALES — The Roosevelt County Commission approved a resolution supporting the New Mexico Counties 2019 legislative priorities during Tuesday’s meeting.

Several of the priorities are related to detention facilities, with funding for jails and prisoner transport and an improved approach to behavior health inside correctional facilities among them.

Also included on the list of priorities are tax reform, Forfeiture Act reform and the removal of the fire protection fund from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission

The commission also approved the removal of seven items each valued less than $5,000 from the county’s inventory and budget adjustments for the first quarter of fiscal year 2019.

No action was taken following an approximately 25-minute executive session held to discuss pending or threatened litigation.
