Motorcyclist hospitalized after Sunday crash

CLOVIS — A motorcyclist was hospitalized Sunday evening with a broken arm following a crash at the intersection of 21st Street and Sugar Beet Road, according to Curry County Sheriff Wesley Waller.

Travis Wilson, 40, of Clovis remained Monday at Plains Regional Medical Center, where he was transported after being struck while riding westbound in a 2010 Triumph motorcycle on State Road 523 (which continues into Clovis as 21st Street).

Waller said Jose Altamirano, 20, of Clovis was driving south on Curry Road G (Sugar Beet) in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup and “failed to stop” at the intersection, impacting Wilson.

The investigation is ongoing, Waller said.
