Greyhounds shut out for first time in 2018

PORTALES — Jarrod Cooper scored off a corner kick early in the second half, and Thursday saw Eastern New Mexico’s men’s soccer team shut out for the first time in the young season with a 1-0 loss to Rogers State at Greyhound Stadium.

Noah Robson assisted on the lone goal of the game, which saw the Greyhounds (3-3-1, 1-1-1) suffer their first defeat of the Heartland Conference season. ENMU outshot the Hillcats 14-8, but Rogers State (4-3, 2-1) held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Gabriel Peres had five shots to lead the Greyhounds, who are back in action at home today at 1 p.m. against Newman.
