1963: In local police news:

• A battery was stolen from Mrs. Victor Cavallero's car parked at 108 Reid St. "(S)he couldn't start her car," the Clovis News-Journal reported. "She looked under the hood and called police."

• Larry Graham, an airman stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, told police someone stole the hubcaps from his new Corvair while he watched a movie on Fifth Street.

• Two teenage boys were taken into custody for drinking beer on Clovis' Main Street. The boys told police they paid a man $1.50 to purchase the six pack.
