RICHARDSON, Texas — Following an undefeated week, a pair of Eastern New Mexico women's soccer players were honored with Lone Star Conference weekly honors.
Grad student Kaitlyn Caro was named the LSC's offensive player of the week and freshman Taylor Jackson took goaltender of the week, according to a release Wednesday from the conference office.
Caro notched an insurance goal in the 81st minute of ENMU's 2-0 win over Texas A&M-Commerce, and attempted a shot in Sunday's scoreless tie with Texas Woman's.
Jackson posted a pair of shutouts over the week, and made a career-high eight saves against Texas Woman's. She made three saves against the Lions.
West Texas A&M's Emily Avila claimed the defensive player award.
The awards mark the first time in seven seasons a Greyhound women's soccer team had multiple weekly award winners in the same season. That year, Emily Simon claimed an offensive player award and Sierra Cardenas was twice honored as the week's top goaltender.
Prior to Wednesday, the Greyhounds had five weekly award winners in the previous five seasons.
So far this week, ENMU athletes have been honored with five weekly LSC awards. Sophomore Dante Urrea was named football defensive player of the week, while volleyball teammates Jennifer Martinez and Alba Ontiveros took the offensive and defensive awards.
The women's soccer team fell 3-1 to No. 21 West Texas A&M Wednesday night.
