Portales Women’s Club

Portales Woman’s Club met on October 10th with President Amber Hamilton presiding. There were 18 members and four guests present.

Hamilton introduced Charles Broz, associate professor of culinary arts at Eastern New Mexico University, who told about the program he’s involved in. Broz was asked to select a book that will be presented to a local school in his honor.

Jessica Camacho, treasurer, presented the financial report for September and it will be filed for audit. The proposed budget for 2018-2019 was approved.

Melody Pierson introduced Jeff Elwell and Kristen Kuhlman who were recognized as new members. Each was presented a blue carnation.

Cindy Miller and Erinn Burch, Peanut Festival co-chairs, distributed a sign-up sheet for work shifts. Burch talked about another project called Airmen Goodie Bags. The purpose is to hand out thank you goodie bags to the 738 airmen who live in the dorms at Cannon Air Force Base.

Hamilton announced that the club’s scrapbook won first place at the District III Convention and that June Ferguson placed first on an item she entered.

The meeting adjourned at 1:10 p.m. and the next meeting will be on November 14th and it will be the Prayer Luncheon presented by Kuhlman.
