Racino losing proposition for Clovis

There are a lot of opinions about a racino in Clovis.

Everyone has an opinion. But, they don’t have a right to voice one for anyone else. This includes our elected officials.

Gambling is addictive. Some can control any type of addiction, most cannot. In the end, they will pay the price. People have lost everything just because they knew that they would “hit it.” They have lost their last dollar trying to get that “hit.”

Is gambling addictive?

I personally am not against going to a casino to gamble. But, I limit myself. When you reach your limit, stop, walk away and go home. You will lose. You will not “hit it.” The only ones who “hit it” are the casino owners.

Casino owners are in the business to make money. Otherwise they would not be there. We, the people, are the saps who will make them rich.

Study the percentages. We wind up paying out a heck of a lot more before we finally get a “small” win.

The city business owners will pick up some business through overnight stays, food, etc. If the racino is successful, the owners will build their own hotel and give discounted meals at their own restaurants.

Look around the country. It has happened everywhere and it is still happening. Where will this leave Clovis?

Remember, the racino owners come to Clovis for one reason only. That is to make money. This money will go from our pockets to their pockets. Otherwise they will close their doors and go someplace else. It will simply be a tax writeoff for them.

On the long run, they will not lose but we will.

Again, you have your own opinion.

If we had a vote it would be no!
