CCC board approves new statements

CLOVIS — Board members of Clovis Community College on Wednesday approved new mission and vision statements for the school, emphasizing its connection to the community and local economic development.

CCC President Becky Rowley said the previous mission statement was “exceedingly long” and board member Arnold Martinez said he was “amazed” to see that trimmed down to a one-sentence statement.

The mission statements reads, “Our mission is to provide high quality education and training that improves the lives of all students and ignites economic vitality in the communities we serve.”

The vision statement reads, “Our vision is to become the college of choice for students seeking to improve their lives and for employers seeking to develop and grow a highly skilled workforce.”

Rowley said the more concise statement will be better for CCC’s marketing purposes, noting the school’s estimated annual impact of $74 million to the region.
