CLOVIS — A Clovis man faces almost three decades in prison following conviction last week for a kidnapping and rape from two years earlier.
A jury found Tanner Autrey, 25, guilty of felony criminal sexual penetration and first-degree kidnapping, among other charges, following two days of trial and over two hours of deliberation.
Testimony included law enforcement, a DNA lab analyst, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, and the victim, who told Clovis police in December 2016 that Autrey “had bound her arms with duct tape and forced himself sexually on her.”
“The victim was described as having bruises from head to toe as a result of the attack,” read a news release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney. “(Autrey) was arrested and taken into custody but later bonded out and fled to Seattle, Washington, where he was ultimately found and made to return to face his charges.”
Judge Drew Tatum ordered Autrey into immediate custody pending sentencing, at which time he faces up to 29 years in prison and a lifetime sex offender registration.
