Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Our people: Passionate painter

My name is Sarah Bice. I am an artist living in Bovina with my seven sweet babies. I was born in Gatesville, Texas, in 1985. I come from a large family with six brothers and four sisters. We moved to Fort Sumner when I was a little girl. I grew up riding horses and working cattle on our 10,000 acre ranch. There's something about the New Mexico sky I'll always be in love with! Now as a mother of seven amazing kids I'm always super busy keeping up with them! From school to trips to the park and fishing outings. Also for the last few years I've been attending art shows all over eastern New Mexico. Painting is my way of life. Not only is it my passion, it's a part of who I am. My favorite mediums are watercolor and acrylic. Through my art I hope to bring to others the softer, brighter side of the west. The Lord has given me this gift and so I want to use it for him.

What are you reading?

I love to read when I find the time. A favorite author is Watchman Nee. I am currently reading "The Finest Of The Wheat" by Watchman Nee.

Tell us about your favorite hobby.

Along with reading when I find time I also enjoy photography. Photography helps me find inspiration for painting. Some of my favorite subjects to shoot are cactus, skies and the beautiful ongoing fields. Truly this land is enchanting!

Favorite quote?

A quote by Helen Keller has gone with me throughout my life. "The best most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart."

How would you like to be remembered?

I intend to live out my life as a servant to others. As a child I longed to take care of the elderly. So as a teen I worked at a nursing home. That was one of the best things I've done. I loved it! Now I put all my effort into my sweet babies. They are my world! I hope that when I'm gone whether through my art or my life, others will feel the love that I truly aspire for all.

If money were no object, what would you do to make eastern New Mexico a better place?

If money were no object I would love to see more family activities available. Maybe some museums or a petting zoo.

What's your idea of a perfect day?

A perfect day to me would be spent with my kids at the park or fishing.
