I’ve never understood how the letters to Santa thing works.
Is one stamp enough to get a letter to the North Pole? It’s not part of the United States, after all. And what about those letters that don’t have stamps? Does magic get them there? Does Santa read the letters and then send them to the newspaper, or does the U.S. Postal Service cut out the middle man and take them straight to the newspaper?
Regardless, I got a stack of these letters on Dec. 26. I submit some of these letters, hoping they had a Merry Christmas just in case Santa didn’t get to see them. I’ll correct the kids’ grammar and spelling, and I won’t give last names for the kids. Santa will know who’s who.
• Javier would like a phone and some Christmas powers. I don’t know what those powers entail.
• Maggie writes, “I hope you and your elves are having a fun Christmas. What is it like in the North Pole? I hope your reindeer are having fun pulling the sleigh every year. Merry Christmas.” Didn’t ask for anything.
• Madeline has been “extra good” in 2018. “I admit that I got a behavior notice sent home once, but I won’t let it happen again.” She wants some Windsnap books, plus any books Santa thinks she’d like, Legos, new rollerblades because her old ones don’t fit and a camera for her best friend.
• Chloe wants anything having to do with science, a MiaoDuo Body Kun DX Set female action figure with a display box, happiness for everybody and candy canes.
• Jacob wants a Spider-Man toy, a bear, jacks and a toy car.
• Addison would like a water bottle, a new phone case, a mermaid unicorn coloring book, a dictionary, some colored Chuck Taylor All-Stars for her mom, roller skates, a new scooter, a backpack, a blue fluffy jacket, a copy of “The Greatest Showman” movie and other items. They have an Elf on the Shelf, and named him Eddie.
• Noah tried hard to be nice, and loves his friends. He wants Beyblade items, toy cars, a black vest, black pants and ties, along with Lego and Paw Patrol toys. A few of those, and he’d be grateful.
• Mitch asks if Santa’s doing well, and notes he’s been very good this year. He’d like a car and Legos.
• Charlie wants a Nerf gun and a toy T-rex that makes noise.
• No name, but he/she wants a phone and a hoverboard.
• Eva says, “I know I have had troubles this year and I am trying my hardest.” She asks for a computer to do school work, and says in return she will work on being good and getting better grades in school.
• Kevin wants his Secret Santa revealed, a great 2019 for his friends, family and coworkers, a zeroed-out Visa bill and maybe a restaurant gift card or two.
Wait, how’d that last one get in there?
