1969: Preston Nance, a 5-foot-7-inch senior guard, was the focus in the Clovis News-Journal's "Meet Your Wildcats" feature.

The basketball player was "noted for his ball handling and defensive ability," the paper reported, but he'd recently demonstrated another skill - he scored 20 points in a game against the Roswell Goddard Rockets.

The Wildcats had defeated Goddard in overtime, running their season record to 9-3.
