Decorating, proactive aging ahead on show

Information on creating and decorating with color and proactive aging will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and at noon on Thursday.

Interior designers and business owners Katie Schroder and Erika Rundiks will talk about how to create and decorate with color since this is a very important element in any room. You can be bold or just show touches of color to add character or individuality to a space, and they’ll show how. They are from Denver, Colorado.

Author and speaker Kate Asbill will talk about proactive aging which is based on her book “Start Dancin’ and Don’t Stop.” Asbill discusses choices seniors have in terms of living better longer and how they can thrive and not just survive! She lives in Artesia.

Information on crafting with cupcake designs, preparing turkey recipes with a contemporary twist and making personal family photo albums will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon on Tuesdayand at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Crafter Maria Nerius will show how to include cupcakes in your crafts whether you’re making home décor or jewelry. She’ll share a website for a special e-book that includes over 30 cupcake themed projects. She lives in Palm Bay, Florida.

Marty Van Ness is a spokesperson and home economist and she’s going to tell how to enjoy turkey throughout the year — not just during the holidays. She will demonstrate traditional turkey recipe ideas with a more contemporary twist — especially good for the millennials. She’s from Chicago, Illinois.

Designer Shannon Bielke will show how to use an altered-book technique which lends itself to capturing family history, ancestors and heritage when making a personal family photo album. She is from Payson, Arizona.

Turkey Salsa Soup

Cook method: Boil/Simmer

Prep: 10 minutes

Cook: 20-30 minutes

Ready in less than 45 minutes

• 1 cup chunky salsa with chipotle

• 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed, drained

• 1 cup frozen whole kernel corn

• 1 cup chopped cooked turkey

• 1 can (14.5 ounces) chicken broth

Combine salsa, black beans, corn, turkey, and broth in large saucepan. Bring to boil on medium-high heat. Reduce heat. Simmer five minutes. Serves four.
