ENMU women jump to sixth in regional poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — An undefeated week helped the Eastern New Mexico women’s basketball team jump two spots to sixth in the D2SIDA South Central Regional poll on Monday.

The poll, released by the College Sports Information Directors of America, saw plenty of movement. Points are awarded based on votes from six sports information directors from the Lone Star, Heartland and Rocky Mountain Athletic conferences that make up the South Central Region.

West Texas A&M, last week’s unanimous No. 1, fell to third place following its home loss to Tarleton State Saturday. The Lady Buffs were overtaken by Colorado Mesa, which had four first place votes and 56 points, and Angelo State (51 points, one first-place vote). West Texas A&M had 48 points in the poll.

Westminster remained in fourth place with 45 points, but picked up the final first-place vote. It was followed by Lubbock Christian (39), ENMU (29) and Western Colorado (21).

Tarleton State (18) moved up one spot to eighth, leapfrogging LSC foe Texas A&M-Commerce (10). Newman grabbed the final spot with eight points.

The Greyhounds faced West Texas A&M Tuesday, and host Texas Woman’s Thursday at 11 a.m.
