CCC board hears presentation of audit report

CLOVIS — With one eye on the state Legislature and another on a sound audit, the board of trustees for Clovis Community College made short work of its regular meeting Wednesday morning.

A presentation on the audit report for the fiscal year ending June 30 found no material weakness or significant deficiencies, although auditors observed three minor instances of fraud that ultimately resulted in no losses, with corrective measures put in effect.

CCC president Becky Rowley spoke to updates on the New Mexico legislative session relevant to the higher education community, emphasizing House Bill 415 and its “true talent acceleration fund” for dual credit courses. That fund would “provide funding for public post-secondary educational institutions to offset losses incurred ... in waiving tuition given to high school students in the state’s dual credit program,” according to the bill, which Rowley said was an important detail as more students pursue such initiatives.

The board next meets March 6.
