Region under t-storm watch until 9 p.m.

Curry, Quay and Roosevelt counties are under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service at 2:42 p.m. reported Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 10 miles north of Melrose, moving northeast at 40 mph.

“Nickel size hail and wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph will be possible with this storm,” the advisory reported.
