CCC's Rowley heading to Santa Fe

Between Editions: March 28

SANTA FE - Clovis Community College President Becky Rowley is headed west.

On Wednesdsay she was selected by the Santa Fe Community College governing board to serve as the school's next president, Rowley confirmed on Thursday.

"I'm really excited about the position," Rowley said. "I feel like it's a good fit for me and hopefully I'm a good fit for them and it's a good time for me to, I think, try to make a change," Rowley said.

Rowley said she has been considering the position for the past two years while SFCC has been led by an interim president. She said she's been interested in the position because she wanted to stay in New Mexico.

"They offer a lot of really great programs, they're doing really well," Rowley said of SFCC. "I know a fair number of people who work there who are all really great and top notch in their fields."

Rowley told The News she plans to resign from CCC sometime in late June and she will start in Santa Fe on July 1.

"It's hard for me to leave here. I've been here for a long time, I've watched the college grow a lot and develop and do new things and I've been really proud to be part of that. It will be hard to leave but I still feel like it's the right thing to do," she said.

Rowley has been president at CCC since 2011.
