Committee seeking candy donations

PORTALES — The city of Portales Cultural Affairs committee is soliciting candy donations through April 17 for its 10th Annual Free Easter Egg Hunt.

Deputy City Clerk Veda Urioste said the city had plenty of plastic eggs left over from last year and preferred hard candy over chocolate, but “we’re not going to turn away any candy.”

Donations can be dropped off at Portales City Hall in advance of the hunt, open to kids 10 and younger and starting 2 p.m. on April 20 at the city’s softball complex on North Industrial Drive.

The city of Clovis is holding an Easter egg hunt on the same day from 9 a.m. at Guy Leeder Softball Complex on East 14th Street. Different organizations have already donated money and prizes to Clovis’ egg hunt so Clovis is not seeking additional donations, said City Clerk Vicki Reyes.
