Clovis High senior Emily Justus was selected as a winner in the personal essay category of the Organ Transplant Awareness Program of New Mexico’s 2019 scholarship essay contest.

Her essay, “Two Lives Saved, A Personal Story,” will be published on the otapnm.com website.

The awards are in memory of Betty Montoya, a kidney recipient, and Jaime Munoz, a double lung recipient.

She will use the prize, a $500 scholarship, to defray tuition costs at West Texas A&M, where she plans to study animal science.
