Audit contract on light city agenda

CLOVIS — If the agenda for Thursday’s Clovis city commission meeting is any indication — and be assured, it is — the commissioners are getting set for what may be their shortest meeting of 2019.

Just two items are listed for the 5:15 p.m. meeting at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Public Library.

The commission first plans to declare May 14 as Nonagenarian Day in the city, in conjunction with that day’s 2 p.m. event at Baxter-Curren Senior Center. The event is to honor all people 90 and older, and the oldest male and female in attendance will be crowned as the nonagenarian tea king and queen.

Also, the commission will consider awarding financial audit services to Integrity at $132,678 annually. The contract includes two one-year renewal options. State law dictates the city cannot do audits more than three consecutive years with the same company.

The city worked last year with Ricci and Co., CPA, but the firm terminated the deal after the first year. During the April 18 commission meeting, Ricci’s Mark Santiago said the firm had experienced significant employee turnover and needed to let go of Clovis and several other clients as a result, but would do everything it could to help the next client hit the ground running.

On Thursday, the city received four quotes for audit services, with Integrity the lowest bidder. The highest bid was for $171,522, officials said.
