Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
My name is Lacey Field. I am 35 years old and I was born in Lubbock. I now live in Clovis with my husband of 11 years, Mike, and my twins Haycie and Holden, who are 5. I teach first grade at Melrose Elementary and I attend church at 16th and Pile Church of Christ. My parents CC and Patty Pyle are a huge part of my life and are my right hand man and woman besides Mike.
Tell us about a time you cried.
When we found out we were pregnant I cried. At 35 weeks I delivered the sweetest little blessings Haycie Layne and Holden Wayne, and this brought tears of joy to everyone we know. Tears of joy are by far easier to remember then tears of sadness.
What's your idea of a perfect day?
The perfect day to me is a beautiful summer Sunday beginning with going to church, then hanging out with my husband and kids, then spending an evening with my family grilling out and enjoying each other's company. You can never go wrong mixing good food with good company.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up I always knew that I wanted to do something that would allow me to work with kids. Around third or fourth grade is when I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. I have always felt drawn to educating young children and have always found it easy to connect with children and help them learn and grow.
What are you reading?
Currently as the school year winds down I am close to finishing reading the A to Z Mystery series book "The X'ed Out X-Ray" by Ron Roy to my first-grade class. I am also reading the "The Whole Brain Child" by Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson and just finished reading "Two by Two" by Nicholas Sparks. I love reading anything that has to do with children, education and tips to help me grow as an educator. I add Nicholas Sparks in because he never disappoints.
How would you like to be remembered?
I would like to be remembered as someone who loved with my whole heart, someone who put God and family first, always tried to show a positive attitude and someone who was upbeat and joyful. I would also like to be remembered as someone who had a passion and dedication for teaching.
Who is invited to your fantasy dinner party? And why?
My fantasy dinner party would have members of my family who have passed away because I would love to be able to have another opportunity to spend time with them, to be able to share my children with them and allow my children to meet the people that they have heard many stories about. I would ask to hear what heaven is like, and I would also love one more opportunity to tell them how special they were to me and what an impact they all made on my life.
What's an accomplishment you're proud of?
First and for most I am proud of my family. I am proud of my marriage to Mike and being a mother. I am also very proud of my career. It is such a joy to be back teaching in the school that I graduated from. I am very proud to be teaching with some of the best teachers around in a community that stands behind and supports the school. It is always a great day to be a Buffalo!
What would you like for your last meal?
"Well since it would be my last meal, carbs won't count right? If it were a home cooked meal, I would want my all-time favorite meal that my momma makes: salmon patties, fried okra, mac and cheese and diced tomatoes and onions. If it were a meal out, Juanito's would be my go-to. There is nothing like fresh chips and salsa with a cheese enchilada and taco plate.
Tell us about your favorite hobby.
I really enjoy bible journaling and being outside working in the yard. Jesus and sunshine are good for the soul.
