FORT SUMNER — Look out this week for “Old Fort Days” in Fort Sumner from Wednesday through Sunday, celebrating the town’s own diverse portion of western history.
The schedule starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday with a “cowboy camp meeting” of singing and ice cream at the Fort Sumner Community House, followed by a country western music night and “De Baca Count 4-H Style Show” from 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Sumner High School Multi-Purpose Room.
An “Old West Trade Show” runs Friday and Saturday during business hours at the high school FORT gymnasium and the “Open Ranch Rodeo” each of those nights at the De Baca County Fairgrounds, among other events. Other highlights on Saturday include the Masonic Lodge Cowboy Breakfast at 6 a.m., the 44th Annual Old Fort Days Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Shawn Price and the Dinétah Dancers at 1:30 p.m. and a Wiener Dog Dash at 6:30 p.m.
