Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
My name is Sylvia Villanueva. My husband Sammy and I have been married for 25 years. I am the mother of three boys: Andrew, 26, who is getting married next month; and Alex and Anthony, who are 22-year-old twins. My husband is an electrical journeyman lineman (foreman). We have been together for 28 years. My mother is Flora and my father is Pete Sr. We have lived in Portales our entire lives.
What would you do if you won $1 million?
I would build a recreation center for our youth in Portales.
Tell us about your pets.
I have two fur babies. Makita, who is a Blue Pit, and Diesel, a Great Pyrenees. I recently lost my other pup of eight years to cancer. His name was Rocky.
How did you meet your spouse?
We went to a high school party that neither of us were supposed to go to. I think it was pretty much love at first sight. We started talking the next day and have been together ever since April 19, 1991.
Tell us about a time you cried.
I cried recently when my oldest son Andrew let us know he was going to propose to the love of his life, Candace.
What's your idea of a perfect day?
I love to hang out with my family. Especially my boys, husband and my son's fiance and girlfriends. We also enjoy going to the lake, camping or just relaxing and having dinner.
What is your theme song?
Garth Brooks - "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)."
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a teacher. I did that for 18 years and now I am working at the Child Development Center at the front desk.
How would you like to be remembered?
I would love to be remembered as a caring person. As someone who was always there when needed.
Do you have a celebrity crush?
I LOVE GEORGE STRAIT!!! Because who couldn't love him? He is amazing in every way and his music can touch anybody. He is the best!
What's an accomplishment you're proud of?
Raising my twins! Also, three rowdy boys. I love them with all my heart and I couldn't ask for more than being the mom of boys.
What do you hope your life will be like in 10 years?
In 10 years, I hope to be a grandmother. I also hope to see my children and grandchildren succeed in all that they set out to do.
Tell us about your favorite hobby.
SHOPPING!!!! I love to shop! Other than that, I enjoy going to the lake and having camping adventures.
