Ruling upheld in favor of Roosevelt

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Court of Appeals has upheld a ruling in favor of Roosevelt County from a 2015 employment case, according to a release from New Mexico Counties.

Former Roosevelt County Detention Center Lt. Keith Parrish had sued the county for allegations of Fair Labor Standards Act violations four Augusts ago, claiming he was owed compensation for missed meals and breaks, holiday work and on-call time while the RCDC was understaffed.

A U.S. district judge ruled last October that Parrish was an exempt salaried supervisor and was not eligible for overtime pay under the FSLA.

Chris Christenson, who is listed as Parrish’s lawyer in court records, was unavailable for comment at press time.
