Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
PORTALES — Classes resume this week and so too do the regular evening meetings of the Portales Municipal Schools' Board of Education.
The board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday and will start the new school year with consideration of various policy manual revisions, first reading on other revisions and budget adjustment requests.
Among the new proposed policy revisions are items concerning programs for pregnant/parenting students and administration of medicine to students.
The board will also be asked to approve eighth-grade Algebra I as a high-school credit for students who completed the course before the 2018-19 school year, according to the meeting agenda.
Other items on the agenda include donations of school and teacher supplies from the Western Bank of Clovis, Sanders Repair Services and the United Way of Eastern New Mexico. There are four out-of-state travel requests coming before the board on Monday: three for basketball games in Texas by the Portales High School boys/girls teams and one for a PHS student and chaperone to visit Orlando Nov. 7-9 for and honors music ensemble.
