Clovis man gets 2 1/2 years

A Clovis man on Wednesday was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for resisting arrest and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.

Jeremy Racette, 34, was convicted May 31 by a Curry County jury of fourth-degree felony possession of a narcotic and three misdemeanors. The charges stemmed from Aug. 4, 2018, when “a Clovis Police Officer nearly collided with a bicycle being operated by Racette,” according to a news release from the 9th Judicial District Attorney.

“Racette attempted to run from officers and resisted detention,” said the release. “After Racette was subdued, officers discovered that he had methamphetamines, marijuana, and a glass pipe in his possession.”

Racette is required to complete one year of parole after his release from prison.
