Church robbery suspects still at large

CLOVIS — Three suspects in the armed robbery last month of an elderly woman outside a Clovis church were still at large on Tuesday, officials said.

Arrest warrants were issued Aug. 21 on Jamie Vega (AKA Jamie Cadena), 36, and Cherry Anaya, 43, on charges of armed robbery, conspiracy, theft of identity, fraud and violations of the Remote Financial Services Act. Officials allege the pair held at gunpoint and robbed the purse from an 88-year old woman who had arrived early for Sunday school Aug. 18 at Parkland Baptist Church. The woman was shaken up but uninjured, officials said.

In the days following, police requested public assistance in locating the vehicle used in the robbery and then announced they had charged Vega and Anaya after reviewing surveillance footage and receipts from businesses where they allegedly used the victim’s ATM cards.

On Aug. 26, police charged Delilah Kerby, 31, with felony counts of identity theft, fraud, forgery and unlawful use of an ATM card, claiming Kerby signed receipts for transactions with the stolen cards.

“All three females have apparently gone into hiding,” Clovis Police Lt. Trevor Thron told The News in an email Tuesday. “I know detectives were out this (Tuesday) morning following up on some tips on where these females might be, but so far no luck.”

None of the three women charged had attorneys listed in court records. Police have requested that information on their whereabouts be anonymously submitted to Curry County Crime Stoppers at 575-763-7000.
