Clovis man sentenced to 11 years

A Clovis man was convicted of three felonies and sentenced to 11 years in prison, according to a release from the district attorney's office.

A Curry County jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before finding Alfonso Rodriguez guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse and felony gun possession.

According to the release, on April 29, Rodriguez became enraged while dropping his girlfriend's kids off at their grandparent's home. Rodriguez pulled a firearm and pointed it at the grandfather and three children. He then fled the scene and was arrested a few days later by the Clovis Police Department.

Assistant District Attorney Mitchell Mender prosecuted for the state.
