ENMU board facing busy agenda at meeting

PORTALES — The Eastern New Mexico University Board of Regents has a busy Friday morning on the landscape, according to its agenda.

Regents will have a discussion on the implications the Yazzie/Martinez ruling has for the college going forward. The 2018 ruling stated that all New Mexico students have a right to be college and career ready and the state has failed to meet that obligation and must do so going forward.

The regents will also receive an update on the school’s liquor license application, which includes a public hearing by the Portales City Council at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Other items on the regents meeting slated for 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Administration Building on the ENMU campus include:

• A proposed renovation project for Harding Hall.

• Updates on the Portales campus including the Greyhound Arena roof, renewable energy upgrades and the new presidential residence.

• A general obligation bond project proposal for the ENMU-Roswell campus.

• A presentation on the Greyhound Connection program.

• Reports on financials for the 2018-19 fiscal year for all three ENMU campus.

• Acceptance of the university’s annual audit report.

• Updates on research and public service projects for the Roswell and Ruidoso campuses.

• Approval of summer graduation lists for the Portales and Roswell campuses.

• An executive session including three personnel matters, one instance of pending or threatened litigation and discussion of sale options on the former Greyhound Stadium. No action is scheduled following the executive session.
