Local participates in state pageant

CLOVIS — Judith Andana did not take the state title this month, but hopes to continue in her charitable endeavors while wearing the title of Señora Clovis 2019.

The state competition Sept. 14 drew 10 participants from across the state, of which Andana was the only representative for eastern New Mexico, according to her brother and pageant director Daniel Andana.

Her efforts will focus on the foundation, "Creating Bridges of Love," (Creando Puentes de Amor) linking the United States and Mexico. Andana is still fundraising and collecting plastic bottle caps, which ultimately support orphanages in Juarez, said her brother.

Those interested in supporting the effort and following more of Andana's service through May can visit her Facebook page, Señora Clovis 2019.

Other organizational efforts include the local suicide prevention walk next weekend and a foundation for women who have been sexually molested, said her brother.

Andana, a surgical technician, is from Mexico and has lived in Clovis the past 10 years, her brother added.
