Committee approves land for subdivision

The zoning and planning commission met Thursday afternoon to approve a 14.874 acre tract of land for the Curtis Subdivision plat.

The approved plat is located in the northeast quarter at Section 31, west of North Prince Street, north of Walmart. According to Committee Chairman Marcus Smith, authorizing the plat will give the business owners in that area more leeway to organize how they want and pave the way for further development.

The designated tract lines do not follow the current ownership lines and will be flexible for large development projects in the area.

A portion of the land will be designated as a farmers market service area. Representatives from first response services stated development in the area should not cause any issues in their patrols or disrupt traffic.

The commission also considered a zone change for the construction of a carport at a residential property on 18th Street. The application was found to fit the city’s criteria and was approved.
