Curry awarded grant from state

CLOVIS — Curry County has been awarded a $1.458 million grant from the New Mexico Department of Transportation, according to a release from the county.

The project was one of four approved for NMDOT District 2, which includes Curry, Roosevelt, De Baca, Lincoln and Chaves counties.

County Manager Lance Pyle said the money will go towards Curry Road 7, located 2 miles south of Brady Avenue, and will go from U.S. 70 to NM 467.

“We are very appreciative of Cabinet Secretary (Michael) Sandoval and the Transportation Commission for awarding funding for CR 7 and look forward to when the work commences.” Pyle said, “that this project will connect US 70 and NM 467 and will provide improved option for accessing the City’s Industrial Park and alleviate truck traffic on CR 9 (Brady Avenue).”

The grant includes a county match of $72,900.
