Water to be shut off for repairs

PORTALES — The city of Portales Public Works department is planning a lengthy shutoff of a water line near Eastern New Mexico University Wednesday to allow for scheduled line repair work, according to a release from the city.

The work will be on the line at the railroad crossing near the intersection of North Avenue K and U.S. 70. Service will be shut off at 2 p.m., and the city anticipates services being down at least five hours for nearby businesses.

Also on Wednesday

n The city’s convenience center for large trash dropoffs will be closed until 1 p.m. for employee training.

n The city anticipates reopening Juniper Street after it was closed to thru traffic Monday and Tuesday for work. Juniper runs from North Main to North Boston.
