Portales to take action on loan and grant agreement

PORTALES — The Portales City Council on Tuesday will review and take action on a resolution to authorize a water project fund loan and grant agreement between the New Mexico Finance Authority and the city of Portales.

Cost of the agreement would be $1,562,652. This would include a loan of $156,265 to finance the cost of the construction of water storage system improvements on the East Johnson Hill tank project.

Improvements include interior and exterior painting, hatches, ladder, vents, overflow and drain piping.

Other notable action items on Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. meeting at the Memorial Building include:

• Ratifying bills for the Finance Department for September 2019 and reviewing a first-quarter budget adjustment for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

• A request to award a contract to supply communications upgrades to include equipment, software, maintenance and possibly grounding services.

• Two resolutions that would determine that properties or premises at 417 N. Main and 705 W. 17th Street are covered with ruins, rubbish, wreckage and debris that make them dangerous and a menace to public comfort, health and safety and requiring removal or remediation of the premise in its entirety.

• A project agreement between the New Mexico Department of Transportation, Traffic Safety Division and the city of Portales.

• An election resolution to proclaim that the regular municipal officer election will be held on March 3.
