Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
PORTALES — The Eastern New Mexico Rural Water Authority will hear numerous reports from board members and staff during its Thursday meeting, including a possible update on Clovis city commission action regarding funding for the authority’s interim groundwater project.
The agenda for the meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Portales Memorial Building, includes reports on project development, the Interstate Streams Commission, federal activities and financial activities.
The authority is hoping to secure $90 million to fund the interim groundwater project portion of the Eastern New Mexico Rural Water System. The split would be $40 million federal, $30 million state and $20 million from authority members.
Clovis, which holds a $15 million share in that local total, had an agenda item on its Tuesday evening commission meeting to potentially raise property taxes for residents in the city limits.
There are no action items on the water authority agenda, with the exception of approving the minutes for the Sept. 26 meeting.
