Church serving up turkey dinner

PORTALES — You can treat yourself to a traditional turkey dinner and some early Christmas shopping this Thursday, courtesy of the First United Methodist Church in Portales.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., you can grab lunch or stop by from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for dinner. Meals will be $9 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Dine-in, carry out and delivery will be available.

First Methodist will be serving up turkey, dressing, gravy, green beans, salad and pumpkin pie for those that stop by.

There will also be a bazaar that will feature crafts and baked items.

“It’s a community-wide event we’ve been doing for a long time,” said Shelly Atwood. “When you come out to the annual turkey dinner and bazaar you get to see people you might only see once a year. It brings us all together.”

Proceeds from the event will go to help support different local and international mission projects.
