PORTALES — The ballots from the Roosevelt County general election on Nov. 5 were made official after they were canvassed Tuesday morning at a special County Commission meeting.
The county received 1,191 ballots total from 10,169 potential voters. The majority of votes came in on Election Day at 998 and another 184 ballots coming in early in-person from the county’s two early voting sites. Nine of the absentee ballots the county sent out were returned.
Commissioners briefly discussed the three alcohol questions that were passed in this year’s election. County Manager Amber Hamilton will work with the county attorney to get them sent to the New Mexico Regulations and Licensing Department in the coming weeks.
