Terry nominated for Harlon Hill award

PORTALES - Eastern New Mexico senior running back Paul Terry is a nominee for the Harlon Hill trophy, presented to the top player in Division II.

The 36 nominees are selected based on information and votes from sports information directors at the 167 NCAA Division II schools offering football.

Terry was a first-team All-Lone Star Conference selection after a regular season that saw him rush for a school-record 1,778 yards.

Terry is one of three Lone Star Conference players nominated and one of a dozen playing for schools in Division II's Super Region 4. The region, one of four in the country, includes 40 schools in the Lone Star Conference, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Northern Sun Conference and Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Other players from LSC schools were Texas Permian Basin linebacker Chris Hoad and Tarleton State wide receiver Zimari Manning.

The candidate slate includes 13 quarterbacks, 10 running backs, seven wide receivers, three defensive linemen and three linebackers. The group features 20 seniors, 10 juniors, five sophomores and a freshman.

Two players from each region will be selected for the national ballot after regional voting concludes Monday. The national winner will be announced Dec. 20 with award presentation slated for Jan. 2.
