Tuesday prep roundup: Farwell girls romp

FARWELL — The Farwell Lady Blue put four players in double figures and posted a season scoring high on Tuesday in rolling past Bovina 86-55 in a District 3-2A girls matchup.

Farwell (18-7, 2-0 district) built a 27-14 lead at the quarter and extended it throughout the rest of the contest.

Seniors Paulina Rodriguez and Karson Barnes and freshman Charlie Trimble each added 11 points for the Lady Blue.

In other girls contests on Tuesday:

Clovis Christian 55, Floyd 50 — The Lady Eagles got all they wanted, but pulled away after Floyd rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit to tie the score midway through the fourth period.

Junior Lola DeGroot scored 22 points and junior Abby Lusk had 10 for the CCS (10-5). Senior Anahi Chavez led three in double digits for the Lady Broncos (2-10) with 19 points, followed by senior Cree Barber (12) and junior Mariah Carrillo (10).

Dora 55, Grady 48 — The Lady Coyotes held host Grady to just three third-quarter points in wresting control. Seniors Randi Crandall and Katelyn Kircher led the way for Dora (4-8) with 18 and 12 points, respectively.

Juniors Kristin Grau and Teryn Foote notched 11 and 10 points, respectively, to pace the Lady Bronchos (6-7).

Roy/Mosquero 67, Elida 40 — Junior Riley Clavel scored 29 points and the Lady Longhorns (10-4) pulled away in the second half to win a neutral-site game played at San Jon.

Freshman Tanna Crisp chipped in 15 points for Roy/Mosquero. Freshman Raquel Rogers topped the Lady Tigers (1-13) with 10 points, followed by junior Tiffany Ortega and sophomore Lilly Anthony with eight apiece.

In Tuesday area boys matchups:

Clovis Christian 57, Floyd 43 — Junior Tyler Lingnau scored 20 of his 26 points in the middle two periods — including 11 of his team’s 12 in the third quarter — as the Eagles fought off host Floyd.

Freshman Noah Gershon added 10 points for CCS (6-8). Junior Juan Alba-Beltran scored 13 points and junior Eli Terry had 10 for the Broncos (1-11).

Borden County (Texas) 42, Farwell 39 — Senior Camden Edwards scored 15 points and hit a game-winning 3 at the final buzzer to lift the Coyotes to a neutral-court win over Farwell at Lubbock Christian’s Rip Griffin Center.

The Steers (15-7) put three players in double figures, but couldn’t overcome 27 turnovers. Junior Jonathan Mora led Farwell with 11 points, while juniors Leefe Actkinson and Jose Rodriguez scored 10 apiece.

Grady 57, Dora 51 — Juniors Isaiah Mitchell and Tobe Slater scored 15 points each and sophomore Dustin Bryant added 12 as the Bronchos (7-6) held on down the stretch against Dora. Sophomore Cache Skelley had 13 points and senior Joe Urioste 10 for the Coyotes (6-7).

Elida 75, Roy/Mosquero 42 — At San Jon, the Tigers built a 16-point halftime lead and rode double-figure scoring from four players to an easy win over the Longhorns.

Sophomore Rylan Creighton had 15 points and junior Teagan Burton 12 for Elida (13-2), while seniors Tyce Delk and Colton Ferguson chipped in 10 apiece. Sophomore Lane Clavel scored 17 points for Roy/Mosquero (5-7), and senior Marcus Padilla added 11.
